Competitor Analysis
This section will look at analysing our competitors in the market and help to identify any gaps in the market we could take advantage of. The online pilates and digital fitness market is highly competitive, with a large range of platforms offering a variety of both free and paid services. By analysing key competitors, we can identify their strengths, weaknesses and any gaps in the market which could be used to help us develop a competitive advantage.
One major competitor of ours would be Pilates Anytime, which offers a large number of Pilates classes recorded and taught by professional instructors. Their main strengths lie in the variety and quality of content, meaning they are appealing to all ability levels of pilate users, from beginner to experienced. However, its subscription cost may be a barrier for some users, particularly newcomers who are not yet committed to pilates and aren’t sure if it is worth them spending their money on it, so they would prefer a free or low-cost option. (Pilates Anytime, 2023) Another competitor is Alo Moves, a premium and well known platform that includes pilates as well as yoga and strength training. Its strengths are a strong branding and high production quality, as well as a large social media following due to them having other business’s too, such as Alo Yoga. However, due to its broad focus being on multiple fitness types, it is not specialised solely in pilates, which may reduce the appeal to dedicated pilates users who are looking for more pilate focused content (Aloyoga.com, 2026).
A third competitor is Nike Training Club, which provides free workouts, and includes pilate inspired sessions. Its biggest strength is that it is free and widely accessible to everyone, making it attractive to a large audience. However, it lacks personalised coaching and also does not focus specifically on pilates which limits its depth in this area (Nike, 2025).
Based on this competitor analysis, our new online pilates business could put itself in a good starting position by offering affordable and competitive pricing to compete with premium platforms. We could also make sure to provide personalised coaching and guidance to add more value to our pilates packages , as well as focusing on trending areas such as wall pilates. Lastly, we could promote a strong brand identity, particularly focusing on sustainability and being accessible to anyone.
